Anonymous – Marion County

This fiber art contribution to the Felting the Future project was created by an anonymous participant in Narinx in Marion County, who also shared the following reflection:

What is your hope for the future?

I hope that all wars will stop

I hope all children in the world will have food, housing, and health.

I hope at least most of us will be kind to animals and our planet

I hope for peace and kindness for each other.

Describe a time when you had to work hard to find hope and resilience.

I never had a proper home growing up. We were always moving. Some places had no heat, there was only 1 room. Some had dirt floors. We had no electricity.

When I was 21 I decided to move my mother and 3 siblings to a better home. Somehow we came up with a down payment and we had a first proper home.

What advice would you offer to a younger version of yourself?

I have always relied on the grace of God for guidance. I would only tell others to trust on God a lot more than I did

What wisdom do you hope your future self carries with her/them?

To always trust Jesus and take what I am given with lots of joy.

Felting the Future is a participatory art project that is bringing together 500 Kentuckians to imagine and shape a hopeful vision of what lies ahead. Using the ancient technique of felting, participants of all ages and backgrounds are creating handmade pieces that will be joined into one large, colorful installation, which will tour the Commonwealth beginning in summer 2026. This project is coordinated by artist Kris Grenier (@krisgrenierart) and supported by the Kentucky Foundation for Women (@kyfound4women).
