This fiber art contribution to the Felting the Future project was created by Taylor Washum of Owensboro in Daviess County, who also shared the following reflection:
What is your hope for the future?
My hope is in my God and the knowledge that His love for humanity will shine. This could look like an end to war, power struggles, greed, racism, poverty, and hate.
Describe a time when you had to work hard to find hope and resilience.
My daughter almost died when she was a year old. The doctor said she had to have a tube placed to help her breath. They missed placed it and hearing the doctors struggle brought me to a broken place. I went to the dirty ICU bathroom and hit my knees in prayer to the One my hope is found.
What advice would you offer to a younger version of yourself?

Felting the Future is a participatory art project that is bringing together 500 Kentuckians to imagine and shape a hopeful vision of what lies ahead. Using the ancient technique of felting, participants of all ages and backgrounds are creating handmade pieces that will be joined into one large, colorful installation, which will tour the Commonwealth beginning this fall. This project is coordinated by artist Kris Grenier (@krisgrenierart) and supported by the Kentucky Foundation for Women (@kyfound4women).
