Madeline Loveless – Woodford County

This fiber art contribution to the Felting the Future project was created by Madeline Loveless of Versailles in Woodford County, who also shared the following reflection:

What is your hope for the future?

No matter what material items I end up with, I hope to be surrounded in love, feel inner peace, and to explore the world.

Describe a time when you had to work hard to find hope and resilience.

Transferring to a new university my sophomore year, in a new city.

Working through the uncomfortable even when it felt lonely at times made me a better person.

What advice would you offer to a younger version of yourself?

Don’t take life so seriously! You are a kid and you only have so many years to have fun to the fullest extent.

Say yes more!

What wisdom do you hope your future self carries with her/them?

That life comes from you and not at you. Your reactions influence the effects that follow.

Felting the Future is a participatory art project that is bringing together 500 Kentuckians to imagine and shape a hopeful vision of what lies ahead. Using the ancient technique of felting, participants of all ages and backgrounds are creating handmade pieces that will be joined into one large, colorful installation, which will tour the Commonwealth beginning in 2027. This project is coordinated by artist Kris Grenier (@krisgrenierart) and supported by the Kentucky Foundation for Women (@kyfound4women).
