This fiber art contribution to the Felting the Future project was created by D. Pulliam of Cynthiana in Harrison County, who also shared the following reflection:
What is your hope for the future?
My hope for the future is that individuals can understand that everyone has value. I would hope that we would treat others with respect even though we don’t all think the same. I hope that all would come to know Jesus because in Him there is hope.
Describe a time when you had to work hard to find hope and resilience.
Sometimes as a young adult I allowed circumstances to bring me down. I had to refocus on what really mattered and my purpose and place in this life.
What advice would you offer to a younger version of yourself?
I would say to myself
you are amazing and created in the image of God for His purpose. Sometimes people will let you down but you will be O.K.
What wisdom do you hope your future self carries with her/them?
Don’t worry about tomorrow. Enjoy your gift of creativity. Love God, love people and love yourself.
Felting the Future is a participatory art project that is bringing together 500 Kentuckians to imagine and shape a hopeful vision of what lies ahead. Using the ancient technique of felting, participants of all ages and backgrounds are creating handmade pieces that will be joined into one large, colorful installation, which will tour the Commonwealth beginning in summer 2026. This project is coordinated by artist Kris Grenier (@krisgrenierart) and supported by the Kentucky Foundation for Women (@kyfound4women).
