This fiber art contribution to the Felting the Future project was created by an anonymous participant in Narinx in Marion County, who also shared the following reflection:
What is your hope for the future?
I hope for Peace in Ukraine and in Gaza and I pray for these peoples and especially for the persons we have abandoned in Africa when we removed the USAID that was helping them.
Describe a time when you had to work hard to find hope and resilience.
It is difficult to believe in hope at this time of so much division and unrest in our nation.
I feel we do not observe the dignity of each person—we are treating immigrants so shamefully.
What advice would you offer to a younger version of yourself?
Be kind to all who cross your path—everyone—
What wisdom do you hope your future self carries with her/them?
I want to remember to be kind to everyone I meet—even if there is one I have a hard time with some—My fault!
Felting the Future is a participatory art project that is bringing together 500 Kentuckians to imagine and shape a hopeful vision of what lies ahead. Using the ancient technique of felting, participants of all ages and backgrounds are creating handmade pieces that will be joined into one large, colorful installation, which will tour the Commonwealth beginning in summer 2026. This project is coordinated by artist Kris Grenier (@krisgrenierart) and supported by the Kentucky Foundation for Women (@kyfound4women).
